The Vinland Fair will offer three days of old-fashioned fun this week. The fair, at 1736 North 700 Road, will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the southern Douglas County village of Vinland. The fair, which was founded in 1907 by members of the Vinland Grange, prides itself on staying true to its roots. Unlike many other fairs at this time of year, the Vinland Fair features no carnival attractions or commercial booths, but instead invites those in attendance to entertain themselves with a variety of contests, races and games.The Vinland Fair is a much anticipated social event bringing families and the community together. The Grange sponsored the fair for the first 103 years, becoming the Vinland Fair after the demise of the Vinland Grange. The Grange was organized in 1873. The building, on the Historical Register, was built in 1884.Relax in the stands and listen to one of the three bands that are featured at the fair. Each evening, a different band will serenade fair-goers once evening starts to set in. Music starts at 7:30 each night. Pull up a lawn chair and enjoy the music and beautiful summer evening!
